Curt Himmelberger

Curt Himmelberger is an English as a Second Language teacher. In his free time, he runs a social justice non-profit making theatre affordable and accessible in Philadelphia. When Curt was living in Brazil, as a Portuguese as a Second Language student, the idea for THIAGO AND THE BEAST BATTLES BRACKET was born.

Eleven-year-old Thiago is pushed through a portal to a magical world...by his father. But unlike the fantasy books Thiago read on Earth, no one in this new world speaks English! 

The fact that his dad was saving him from a war does not make acclimating any easier. 

Thiago makes three startling discoveries. One, there is a way he can travel through a portal again. Two, his father had lived here before and had become the sworn enemy of the king! And three, the citizens of this world can control fantastical hybrid-beast creatures with their minds!

Even as Thiago finds himself training to compete in the Beast Battles, his greatest desire is to have his dad again. If Thiago tries to travel back to Earth, he will die in a war. If he tries to bring his father here, the King will murder them both, Either way, Thiago has to learn the language, which might kill him first!​​​​
